All-day brekky at this Aussie-style cafe
I'm always excited whenever I see an Aussie-style place pop up anywhere in Japan, but even more so when it's right here in Niigata Prefecture. Fennel opened earlier this year, and it's such a great spot to get your brekky fix if you're in the area. The owner actually worked at restaurants in Sydney, so I feel like there's a good amount of authenticity there with the menu offerings. They do a good avo toast, which you can add egg, cheese, or bacon to if you want to bulk it up a bit. They also have solid coffee options, including long blacks for the fellow Aussies/Kiwis out there. The downside: they're only open on weekdays (Mon-Fri 7:30am until 3pm) and closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Kinda inconvenient if you're not a local and would only be able to visit on the weekend, but if you can swing a weekday trip it's worth it!
