Not so far underground
As this station is one of the older ones, opened in 1938, its not as deep underground so you don't have as far to go to get out. But, also due to its age, it has very narrow platforms and many pillars which make it harder to move around. They did make some improvements around 2019 and 2020, for the Olympics, as the station is relatively close (about a 15 minute walk) to the New National Stadium.

Quieter Ginza line stop
Gaienmae Station is a quieter station to transit through than its Ginza line counterparts like Shibuya and Omotesando -- and that's probably because it only has the one line passing through it. As a result it's an easy to navigate station, too. It's the best stop to access the Meiji Jingu Gingko Avenue for the autumn leaf hunters.
