Excellent sake and craft beer brewery

Sekinoichi Brewery, a short walk from Ichinoseki Station, has been brewing sake since the Edo Period, and craft beer for the last 25 years. The brewery is a collection of antique buildings including a brewery building which showcases sake, craft beer, and other local products, a kura storehouse cafe, and a restaurant. The restaurant serves regional dishes such as mochi with different garnishes, shabu shabu, and mochi fondue. With your meal, you can sample the craft beer in a flight - four different beers, from Weizen to stout, or four different varieties of sake. The buildings are survivors of the March 11th earthquake, refurbished yet bearing some scars of the disaster. The courtyard and kura storehouses are a lovely place to take a break and have a sip.
