Chureito Pagoda

Beautiful spot to see Fuji - but check the weather forecast!

Chureito Pagoda is possibly one of the most iconic spots that you can view Mt. Fuji at. I've taken visitors to Japan here several times, but a word of warning - it can be very hit or miss in terms of seeing Fuji. You really need to ensure that if seeing Fuji is the modus operandi for visiting, that you check the weather forecast before you head out there. I've had days where the view was incredibly clear and breathtaking - other days like the pictures I've attached which were still beautiful, but Fuji was completely hidden by clouds. There is a car park close to pagoda itself, but a word of warning that this is one of the most popular spots to view cherry blossoms in the spring, and it can fill up quickly. Parking there however was free (unless this has changed). It is approximately 400 steps to the top, so bear that in mind if you're traveling with anyone who may not be able to complete that many stairs.
