Local izakaya atmosphere, creative menu
Tomoyoshi is a privately owned izakaya in the Kawama neighborhood of Noda City. The menu, which is set daily and features fresh ingredients in season, displays a lot of creativity. We had beef motsuni which was a refreshing change from the usual pork. The broth was aromatic and filled with big chunks of meat and fresh greens. The maguro sashimi was served attractively in huge chunks sand garnished with chives and pickled carrot. We liked the kushiyaki- they bread their quail eggs with a crunchy mix of spices besides the usual. For otoshi, we got arugula in a vinaigrette topped with cheese. The prices are ok, and the service was excellent. It’s often full for parties and end of year events, but we didn’t find it crowded on a Saturday night. Tomoyoshi closes at 12 a.m., but the chef was happy we liked his food, so he told us to linger. Nice people!
