Hasn't opened in more than 5 years
An update on the Sakado outdoor seasonal pools - unfortunately they haven't opened since the pandemic and have gone into a state of disrepair. There was a big appeal from citizens last summer to reopen them, but they didn't. But they also haven't torn them down. I don't know what will become of them, but I don't expect that they will open this summer either.

Local seasonal pool - great alternative to the super crowded super pools
Located in the middle of nowhere, Sakado Sports Park's outdoor seasonal pool is a great alternative to the bigger and better known nearby aqua parks of Kawagoe and Ageo. For a local seasonal pool its very good. And actually it is really a mini aqua park as it has 5 different pools including a 30 centimeter kiddies pool with 3 slides and fountains. There is also a wave pool, sliders and a 50 meter pool with an athletic play area over part of it. It doesn't get overcrowded and they are diligent about safety. Every hour and a half everyone has to get out of the pool for ten minutes. Its to prevent heat stroke and to check the pools. They have periodic announcements to drink water and get some shade. There are plenty of shaded areas around the perimeters of the pools. Sakado is part of the "rainbow cities" (a collaboration of 7 cities including Kawagoe) so for citizens of those 7 cities you can enter for only 500 yen or 200 yen for school aged children. Its 1000 yen and 400 yen respectively for anyone from outside the rainbow cities. Under 6 years old can enter for free. Parking is also free.
