Transit hub that could be better
I have transited through Shinagawa Station on a number of occasions, typically enroute to Haneda Airport just like the original reviewer BigFamJapan mentioned. Because it's a transit hub with multiple lines running through it, it is a busy station, and I'm in agreeance that I don't think the station has really grown with things like the surge in Japan's tourism. There are some positives though -- I find that things are signed pretty well here (maybe because a lot of international visitors pass through here) and there are some good options for food and drink. I still think I prefer here over Tokyo Station though!

Should be more travel friendly
Shinagawa Station was once one of the stations I used regularly. Recently I used it for the first time in years and was very surprised to learn that it hasn't changed much. Which is a bad thing in the case of this station. In 20 years they still haven't made the platform for the train to Haneda Airport anymore user friendly. There are still steps up to the platform despite the fact that (more than in most other stations) many users have suitcases. They did put in an elevator, but just one and the queue for it is miles long! The other thing that hasn't changed is the lack of English. Again, as this station is used by airport travellers, including a large percentage of foreigners, you would think it would have a lot of English. But no, it actually has very little information in English. As you can see in the photo above, the train route does have a little bit of romaji on it, but its written sideways in small print!
