Yagi Shrine

Tranquil shrine close to Yagigahana

Yagi Shrine is a tranquil spot close to Yagigahana, a beautiful rock formation which is well worth checking out while you're in the area. The shrine itself has a history dating back to the early 800s, with the main shrine building that stands today dating back to the mid 1600s. Part of what makes the shrine so appealing is that you basically have the place to yourself, and the surrounding tall trees add to the spiritual ambience. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come here if I wasn't already in the area, but it's worth exploring if you're passing through.
