Its all about the tunnel
The Shinagawa Aquarium isn't that big and its quite old, but what it lacks in size and pizazz it makes up for with that tunnel! An underwater tunnel that affords a great view of the fish and marine life. The dolphin show is quite nice here too. Its not nearly as exciting as some of the other aquariums, but it is in Tokyo and easily accessible.

Great urban aquarium with reasonably priced admission
I've visited Shinagawa Aquarium a couple of times with my family, and enjoyed both visits. I think it's particularly interesting that many exhibits have a local focus, such as sections centered on marine life from Tokyo Bay. The restaurant has typical Japanese cafe fare such as curry and hamburger steak, but I recommend eating before you go as the prices are a little high for what you get in my opinion. If you drive there is paid parking available on site. It's a little pricey (100 yen per 20 minute increment), but sometimes the convenience of driving can't be beaten when you have little kids in tow.

Shinagawa Aquarium
The Shinagawa Aquarium is a nice little aquarium in the heart of Tokyo. You can see around 450 species, with many from the closeby bay area. You will find a great variety of sea creatures in a really nice presentation. Especially the huge tunnel, where you have 180-degree to the sea life is really great. Even the aquarium is a little bit small, it is perfect for kids. There are also some shows like the dolphin show, which is the most popular one. If you are hungry, you can have a stop at the nearby restaurant or food stand. unfortunately you can only eat outside of the aquarium, what is not so nice, when you want to spend the whole day there.
