Mt. Desert Island is an ice cream shop located in the Azumino area of Nagano, and if you love artisanal style ice cream it's worth a visit. The flavors of ice cream here are daring and a little out of the norm, including mixtures like cardamom and cinnamon or coriander raspberry crumble, but they do have more common varieties like black sesame or strawberry if you're not game to try one of the more unique types. I believe the menu changes with the seasons, so popping in at different times of year might yield you with different tastes. The company apparently started in the States and this is their only international location thus far, which is pretty cool!
