Delicious Tsukemen!
Everyone has their own preferences for ramen. I'm particularly fond of tsukemen (つけ麺). I went to Menya Takahashi on a Monday afternoon, wondering why there were so many good reviews written by fellow foreigners on Google Maps. It turns out, it's right next to Ninomiya House - a residence that houses foreign researchers in Tsukuba. I ordered miso tonkotsu tsukemen, and it did not disappoint! The soup was neither thin nor viscous, and it had tangy tones, a wonderful sweetness to it and light flavors of miso and tonkotsu. It's been awhile since I've had unique tasting ramen. So I was very happy. It was quiet that afternoon and I had a lovely chat with the owner who said he's still recovering from the decline in customers due to the pandemic. So he's welcoming everybody to come (or come back) and enjoy his ramen!
