Higashimatsuyama is famous for peony flowers. The city is home to the largest peony garden in Kanto, "Botanen", which you will also find reviewed on City-cost. But the peony garden at yakyu inari is a nice alternative to that peony garden, if you don't want to pay for peony viewing. I actually prefer this one, because there is also a stunning wisteria tree on the grounds. A wisteria that is quite famous and revered locally. They have a few food stalls in the garden when the peony festival is on.
