View of Osaka Castle Park
I recently went to the History museum for the first time for a special exhibit but did not look at the permanent collection. It's 600 yen for adults to view the permanent collection and it seems like a decently sized museum. The special show was a big collection of woodblock prints by Kawase Hasui who was one of the most prolific and well known woodblock artists in Japan. There is even a tiny section mentioning how Steve Jobs collected his work. I enjoyed the show, but it was really crowded even on a weekday. I also felt like the lighting made it really hard to see the prints well. They displayed three prints in each section where only one light was used so one out of three prints were well lit. This was frustrating but maybe the amount of work was more than usual? It was also heated a bit too much and everyone was carrying their jackets and other layers. I'm glad I went but it left me feeling really exhausted. On the first floor there is a replica of the time capsule from the Japan Expo 1970, free to view.
