Worth the visit
It's been years now since I visited Nikko Toshogu and saw this pagoda, but I feel like it was one of my most memorable weekend trips. Nikko in general to me is a must-visit, and the five-storied pagoda is such a breathtaking structure to admire. It's designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, as well!

Architectural Masterpiece
Located within Nikko Toshogu, the five storied pagoda is worth seeing if you are in the Nikko area. Unfortunately, the day I went it was absolutely lashing rain so the photo I have is awful and doesn't do it justice. But as one of the most famous pagoda in Japan, you can easily find a better photo online. It is a popular spot all year round, but thanks to the heavier than normal rain the day I visited, apart from the 30 odd people on our bus tour, there were only a few other people there! You can view the five storied pagoda if you have paid into Toshogu. The price has gone up considerably since I was last there. It now costs 1300 yen. If you want to enter the museum too it costs 2100 yen. Considering everything you can see at Toshogu it is probably worth paying it once, if you are interested in history and architecture.
