    Kenji Miyazaki Fairytale Village

To the east of Hanamaki city is the Fairytale Village, dedicated to the local writer, Kenji Miyazawa. There are many sculptures associated with his works around the park, which are lit up at night. At the far end, directly across from the entrance, is Kenji's school, where each room has a different theme: the Fantasy Hall, the Universe Room, the Water Room, Sky Room, and the Earth Room. At the end is a hallway with small animatronic dioramas of scenes from Miyazawa’s stories, notably The Restaurant of Many Orders and Gauche the Cellist. On the north end are a series of cabins, each displaying the studies of subjects from his stories: animals, plants, constellations, and birds.
