Decent soba in the shopping street
Around Kashiwa Station, there used to be a handful of locally owned shokudo where you could get a fast and cheap meal and maybe a chat with the cooks. A lot has changed in Kashiwa's shotengai, and those little shops are gone. Your choices are chain shops or slow dining at some soba shops. Fuji Soba is okay for eat-and-go. It's clean, service is fast, and the soba is good quality. The tsuyu is typical Tokyo salty. Next time, I'll opt for one of the half-dozen excellent slow-dining soba shops around the station.
