Historical house of a cartographer
This antique house on the Ono River in Sawara old town is not very big, but it is a place of national and historical significance. It was the home of Tadataka Ino, a cartographer who traveled all of Japan to create a modern map. The Ino family was wealthy and the house is well-appointed. Directly in front is Hibashi, a bridge with a gutter that releases water periodically throughout the day. This "Jajabashi", the splashing bridge, is recognized as one of the 100 soundscapes of Japan. Admission to the house is free.
