    Soaring atrium, Yokohama views

When in Yokohama, don't miss the view from this iconic tower. Inside, the soaring atrium has seasonal and holiday displays. It's airy and spacious. The astonishingly fast elevators whisky you up to the Sky Garden observation deck. On clear days, you get stunning views of Yokohama's port and Mt. Fuji. When I visit Yokohama, I combine the trip to the tower with a visit to the Nippon Maru ship at the foot of the tower.

    Japan's fastest elevator

One of the bragging rights of the Landmark Tower, a famous symbol of Yokohama, is it has the fastest elevator in Japan. It ranks high on the speed scale on the world rankings too at 45 kilometers per hour. You can be whisked to the 69th floor, the home of the Sky Garden Observation Deck, in matter of seconds, from where you can see Mt Fuji on a clear day.

Shopping, accommodation, an observation deck, and more

Yokohama's Landmark Tower is one of the icons on the city's skyline, and there's quite a bit to do there. It's home to the Yokohama Royal Park Hotel, an observation deck, and numerous shopping and dining options. The shopping in particular is helpful if you miss certain international brands -- they have large chains here like Gap, H&M, and Banana Republic to name just a few. Easily walkable from Minatomirai Station.
