Makaino Farm

Farm fun for kids - and you can't beat the view!

This was a favorite spot of ours to visit when we were living in Tokyo for good reason - it can feel like you're living in a never-ending metropolis so if you've got children in particular, it's nice to give them a glimpse of country life. Makaino Farm is a great spot to do this. Kids can experience a range of different animal encounters, from milking a cow through to riding horses and ponies, and even taking goats for walks. As well as the animal experiences, there is loads of play equipment for the kids to enjoy and burn off some energy. One of the best things in this adult's opinion though is the gorgeous view you can get of Fuji from here on a clear day. It's breathtaking, so be sure to bring your camera, not just to get happy snaps of your children enjoying themselves but of the beautiful surroundings, too. Definitely try the ice cream here too - it's delicious!
