Fukuoka Prefecture is located on the island of Kyushu in western Japan. It's capital, Fukuoka City, is the largest city on the island of Kyushu and the 6th largest city in Japan, with a population of 1.4 million people. Fukuoka City is considered to be one of the best cities in the world to live. Fukuoka is home to many popular festivals, but it's biggest and oldest is the Hakata Dontaku, dating back 800 years, with an attendance of over 2 million people each year, the highest in Japan. Kokura Castle is located in Kitakyushu City, and is a popular destination for tourists. Fukuoka Prefecture also has the highest population of Yakuza members, the highest number of gun-related crimes, and the highest number of youth crimes in all of Japan.
