Japanese Paid Survey Sites
You probably have heard of the option of doing paid surveys online to make a little money on the side. I have been using a few Japanese survey sites for a certain period of time and would like to share my experience.
Macromill is a famous survey site in Japan. You can answers surveys on your PC or your phone via the Macromill app. Most surveys are paid at 2 to 4 yen per survey and are fairly quick. Some of these quick surveys can qualify you for longer surveys that pay at around 100 yen.
Sometimes the surveys on Macromill also look for participants for phone surveys or surveys you attend physically that are paid at several thousand yen, however, I have never been chosen for such a survey so far. I usually answer surveys for about 10 to 15 minutes each day and make around 1,000 yen per month. The money you make can be transferred to your bank account or you can exchange it for Amazon gift codes, t-points or g-points. You need at least 500 yen to exchange it or request a transfer. So far I always received the money timely and there is no fee for exchanging.
You don’t make a lot with Macromill but it’s a nice thing to do when you have only a few minutes of idle time while waiting for a train or similar and it is quite convenient to answer surveys on the phone as the UI of the Macromill app is quite decent.
Lifepoints only offers longer surveys that are paid at around 100 yen per survey. However sometimes after the first few questions if you do not fit the target group, a survey will quit early and you only receive a fraction of the points.
Lifepoints does not have an app version and the website is not really optimized for mobile use so I would recommend answering Lifepoints surveys from your PC.
Unlike Macromill, Lifepoints is not originally in Japanese and most surveys are translated which results in weird Japanese sometimes. On Lifepoints I usually make around 500 points per week. Once you have 550 points you can exchange them for 500 yen Amazon or Rakuten gift cards that you will receive a few days after requesting the exchange. So far I always received the gift cards timely.
Lifepoints surveys are paid higher than Macromill surveys, however, you get fewer surveys per day and you lose 50 points when requesting an exchange.
Have you tried out survey sites? What experiences did you have?
