Seasonal Stomach Virus Hit

Seasonal Stomach Virus Hit photo

In one of those turns of events that makes you wonder what, precisely, you did to deserve this, my family and I have been hit by a stomach virus.

We are unlikely to find out if it’s actually the dreaded Norovirus or one of its charming counterparts, but it has been making us varying degrees of miserable. I haven’t heard or seen any news of a massive outbreak like those that have hit other countries in the northern hemisphere lately, so I’ll assume we just got unlucky.

We have a few things that help get us through it. There’s Aquarius and Dakara to help with restoring electrolytes, and I’ve learned that the 7-11 has its own version of Aquarius now (pictured above).  My husband, who often tends to be the least affected by these bugs, has made us okayu, the bland rice porridge dish that is quite gentle on stomachs. Finally, we have been able to move our futons to the rooms with heaters and easy access to the bathroom, which has made dealing with everything a bit (I stress a bit) easier.

Beyond that, I guess we will just keep pushing through and hope for some relief sooner rather than later.
