I took a gamble on ordering from Amazon Japan a box of produce from a grocer in Wakayama Prefecture. It's winter, so I worried I would get just a box of greens. This vendor on Amazon has a cute name - 信州田舎の小さな八百屋さん - Shinshu Inaka's little green grocer. All of the items, and a pleasing variety of them, arrived fresh. The cabbage and brocolli heads are so massive they don't fit in my fridge! Also in the box are mizuna, komatsuna, daikon, kabocha, snow peas, tomato, dekopon, and a package of shukurai.

I'm really pleased with the quality, variety, and size of the produce in this assortment. The vendor also shipped it quickly so that they're in good shape, even the mizuna which has a short shelflife. And the price is not bad, working out to about 255 yen each. The only not so good thing is that, though the produce is delivered in a cardboard box, each item is wrapped in plastic. I don't need plastic wrapping as I prepare food right away or store it in my own containers and wrappers. If you're up for some surprises (this one includes shukurai, a new one to me!), try this.
