I learned a few things drinking Pokka Sapporo's Chelate Lemon. First, I looked up the product name to find that kireto is the katakanized word "chelate". And way back when, this drink was marketed as an ingredient in cocktails. Usually this drink is available in PET plastic bottles, but this small can is available, too. The drink is packed with 2000 mg of citric acid, 1350 mg of Vitamin C, and 150 mg of royal jelly. It's tart and fizzy so it quenches thirst while supplying all these nutrients. It's a good pick me up.

Pokka Sapporo's drinks focus primarily on the benefits of lemons, citric acid, and vitamin C. In addition to those wholesome things, this drink also has royal jelly, a substance that bees feed to the queen of the hive. Apparently it is a rich source of antioxidants and anti-inflamatory, with a bit of Vitamin B thrown in. The amount indicated on the can is a mere 150 mg, but the studies on the health benefits usually indicate 10 times that intake per day. Still, a little is better than nothing. I pick up one of these drinks a few times a week. Can't hurt.
