In September 2024, Suntory Beverage's popular Horoyoi brand of low-alcohol shochu highball drinks added two new flavors in cooperation with Lipton, the world's biggest tea company. To go with the "premium" on the can, the top is gold. The first one I tried was the apple tea variety. Nice! This time I went for the lemon tea version. The zippy flavor of the lemon and the sharp astringency of black tea work well together. The tea is unmistakable - it certainly tastes like Lipton's black tea. I enjoyed it lightly chilled.

There are two versions of this drink released at the same time. Your choices are Lipton Apple Tea Sour and Lipton Lemon Tea Sour. The lemon tea is nice enough and has the promised tang of lemon and distinctive black tea flavor, but I'd rather go back for the apple tea version. The lemon tea is soothing if you're suffering autumn allergies and a head cold. That would be me this week. The lemon tea sour at room temperature is nice if you're ailing. The two drinks are available for a limited time this autumn.
