Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination
I actually don’t know why, but I end up visiting the Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination every year. After so many years, I am not going there anymore only for the illumination, but when I am close by during the event time, I always take a look around and take photos there.
The illumination is running for the 18th time this year and it has a different theme every year. The topic for the 2022-2023 illumination is “gifts” and it is running from 11th November 2022 until 28th February 2023.
The main highlight of the illumination at Tokyo Dome City is the “Milky Way”, a tunnel of light that extends 140m. It is a perfect photo spot, even though it might be tricky sometimes to take nice photos because the lights are quickly changing and there are surely other people walking around.
Furthermore, there is a 15-meter-high tree that is also changing colors and has a little show every 20 minutes. On the screens next to the tree, they showed gifts being unpacked, like a little doggie jumping out of the gift box. Note, that the tree was only there until January 9th.
At the inner garden of LaQua, you can find a huge illuminated flower bouquet as a photo spot – and there are four more venues to find in the area!
Next to that, Tokyo Dome City is always a highlight, with the lights around. Illuminated trees and buildings are making it a magical place. The huge ferry wheel also lights up at nighttime, such as the merry-go-round, which is one of the most beautiful spots for me.
Visiting the Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination is free and easy to combine with all the other things to do at the amusement area. Go shopping, eat delicious food, ride the amusement park attraction or even visit the onsen spa there. There is always a reason to be back there – even every year like me.

The champagne color looks so warm and inviting! Great for warding off the chill of winter.
