Attention to detail at Yahiko Park
Yahiko Park is one of my favorite Niigata spots to enjoy the best of the changing leaves, and it's honestly a popular spot prefecture-wide -- if you ever end up visiting I would highly recommend stopping by during the week rather than on a weekend if you can manage it.
On this year's visit I was impressed just as much by the fallen leaves as I was by the ones still on the trees. Someone had gone and poked smiley face holes into a variety of leaves, and put them on a rock in a gradient color scheme from red to green. It looked so beautiful and just made me happy to see the attention to detail that Japan so often exhibits.
For those who want to see the leaves on the trees, this was the view a couple of days ago...not too shabby!
