Things I love about summer in Japan: Gari Gari Kun

When I reflect on some of my favorite things about summer in Japan, I feel like foods that help me get through the season are one of the key aspects. Popsicles/ice pops/icypoles (depending on where you come from) are key, and one of my top picks is Gari Gari Kun. The classic version is blue soda flavored, and it has a crunchy texture that's meant to emulate the feel of shaved ice.

They also produce seasonal flavors occasionally, including things like mikan, cola, and plum to name a few.

They're an inexpensive way to cool off, and you can find them at just about every convenience store and supermarket freezer section, which is another convenient plus!

Do you have a favorite icy treat at this time of year?
