A look at Japan's Conscious City rankings for 2024

The "conscious city" concept focuses on places that are designed for work-life integration, with opportunities for personal growth, innovation, and social engagement. Daito Trust Construction Co., Ltd. conducted a study about conscious cities in 2024, and the data was released recently.

Chatan in Okinawa came in first place, with second and third places going to Minato-ku in Tokyo, and Kita-ku in Osaka respectively.

The resort area feel was one selling point of Chatan in Okinawa.

I found it interesting reading the comments from residents in the study results, and these were some of the comments about Chatan:

• It's famous as a resort area, and the town is clean and gives a sense of status when you live there. (Male, 60 years old)
• There are many restaurants and supermarkets, so shopping is not a problem. (Female, 24 years old)
• The town is lively and it is easy to raise children. (Female, 45 years old)
• Many things are within walking distance. (Male, 65 years old)
