For love or money? (And where is the line?)
I recently reviewed the new Joe Kind frappuccino at Starbucks, which was a cute and tasty purchase but not something that I think is an affordable drink by any stretch. My vice is seasonal drinks—I like trying them, and I do recoup 150 yen here by reviewing them. But at 720 yen, it's basically the price of a meal at many restaurants, and with the price of everything still increasing it is sometimes hard to justify.
I saw fairly recently that Starbucks was also increasing prices at select stores, mainly in large urban areas and airports. It did get me thinking, how much is too much? Where is the line for what you would pay for a seasonal drink, even if it was once a month or so?
I think it's important to still try and do the things you love in life—I think cutting everything out can make things feel a bit doom and gloom, but I also think saving and budgeting is an important thing.
If you are a seasonal coffee/frap aficionado, how often do you indulge? Do you cut back in other areas of life to accommodate for your fix, and is there a point Starbucks (or other chains) could get to where you'd immediately say "no way, that's too pricey"?
