The description

This product is a Beni Haruka Mont Blanc, and it's a limited time cake offering from the Ginza Cozy Corner chain. It was priced at 496 yen including tax.

The good

First off, from a simple visual standpoint I think this Beni Haruka Mont Blanc is a winner. I love the look of the sweet potato strands, and it's topped with some candied sweet potato pieces as well. When you cut the Mont Blanc open there's a layer of whipped cream and a layer of sweet potato paste as well, so flavor-wise it packs a punch. The cake base is a brown sugar sponge, which had a nice flavor to it as well. I think it's worth trying as a treat if you like sweet potato flavored things.

The not so good

At almost 500 yen including tax, this is a fairly pricey cake. In saying that it's quite a decent size and enough to share, so it helps to justify the cost a little. Also, if you're a Mont Blanc purist, you might not be the biggest fan of this -- but I actually think it's nice having something different than chestnut. Overall, a really tasty cake option if you are into sweet potato things. I'm guessing it will only be on shelves for a couple more weeks, so if it sounds good to you be sure to check for it at your nearest Cozy Corner store soon. Happy eating!
