Destinations for tulips in Niigata Prefecture
With spring now officially here (although some places probably feeling more like it than others!) I thought it was a good time to introduce some of the best flower spots in Niigata Prefecture. One of my favorite springtime blooms is tulips, and there are some really great places here to enjoy them.
One of our favorites as a family, and a relatively close one to home is Echigo Hillside Park. The tulip festival here is usually held from late April to early May -- this year's dates are April 19th through May 6th (nice to check out over Golden Week, but it can be crowded), and there are close to 200,000 of the flowers to enjoy.
Gosen is another town in Niigata which is known for its tulip production, and they host a tulip festival each year as well. Expect it to be held in April -- it doesn't look like dates have been announced yet on the official Niigata Tourism site, however.
Tainai City has the dates for their tulip festival booked in for 2025 -- it's set to be held from April 19th until May 4th. With around 800,000 tulips (and a massive field of nanohana for good measure), this is a place with a ton of blooms to go around. There is a small suggested donation of 300 yen for admission.
Are there any good tulip spots in your part of Japan?
