Record snows in much of the country

How is your corner of Japan looking this weekend? ToneToEdo recently wrote about the appearance of blossoms in Chiba, but its quite different in a lot of other areas at the moment! This is outside of Urasa Station today, and as you can see the snow is really piling up.

The snow is piling up, but thankfully roads are quite clear thanks to our sprinkler system!

Earlier in the week I saw that Obihiro in Hokkaido had a snowfall of over 120 centimeters (about 4 feet) in a twelve hour period, which is crazy. They don't have any kind of sprinkler system on their roads there (it gets too cold, which would just turn everything into an ice skating rink), so people were having to try and dig out paths on sidewalks and roads themselves.

If your area of Japan is getting a lot of heavy snow I hope you're safe and stocked up with supplies if it's not easy to get out and about!

Woah! It's been windy all day here in northern Chiba Prefecture. Bitterly cold and dry with bright sunshine. Stay safe where you are in snowy Japan!
