Narita Station or Narita Airport?

On a recent visit to Chiba, I noticed a funny sign in English posted at Narita Station, the first station outside of the Airport.

To me, I guess it's funny because it's so obvious. Apparently, enough tourists were confused enough to get out at the wrong station and maybe even miss their international flights.

Narita Station looks like a normal station and isn't a bad town to explore when you have time. With the famous Narita San temple, unagi restaurants, and onsen being the main attractions, it's not as exciting as Tokyo. But if you have time before a flight and don't feel like being in an airport for hours, everything you need is available there.

Announcements in English clearly announce the arrivals to Narita Airport, Terminal One and then Terminal Two, both of which are underground (unlike Narita Station). There are also displays inside the trains showing the names of stations in Japanese and English.

Before getting off the train, check which terminal your flight departs from. If you're flying LLC (discount airlines, mostly domestic flights), from Terminal Two Station, you'll want to follow signs pointing you to Terminal Three, an easy 15 minute walk along a racetrack.

You might notice the signs are only in English.

In the opposite direction, if you want to catch a train or bus into the city after flying into Terminal Three, follow signs to Terminal Two and the trains are downstairs.

You will still need to walk a little, but free shuttle buses are also available between the two terminals.
