Gallery - Hinamatsuri Dolls

I visited a shopping mall at Shibuya district to buy some birthday presents and happened to gaze at these cute Japanese dolls. To my surprise, these dolls are extremely expensive. I could hardly believe it because I thought it only cost less than 10 thousand yen. So I did a bit of research about these dolls just to educate myself. I found out that some sets are so expensive that companies and wealthy families are the only ones who can afford them. Also, the highest tier is seven, and each tier or layer has different characters and meanings: The Prince and Princess, the three servants, five boy musicians, two guardians, the other three servants, and other miscellaneous layers are added to make up to the lucky number seven. They could be home decorations and furniture like mini drawers and so on. Some of these sets can cost up to 500-800 thousand yen and that depends on the design and the number of tiers per set.
