    Plenty of beauty to enjoy

Kurihama Flower Park is a great place for seasonal blooms, and spring is when the park shines, IMO. It's known for poppies and nemophila (baby blue eyes) at this time of year, but if you can't plan a spring visit they also have beautiful cosmos in the autumn months. The giant Godzilla is also a fun photo op! Free to enter (a couple of on-site attractions like the park's train have a fee).

    Beautiful flowers and... Godzilla?!

Up a hill and a 15 minute walk from Keikyu Kurihama Station is Kurihama Flower Park, or Hana no Kuni in Japanese. There, you can find fields of beautiful flowers, all cared for and pruned by the staff. Many times, you'll also see elderly people having a stroll or children playing with their parents. It's a very peaceful scene. Depending on the season, you can see many different types of flowers. With summer near, the flowers are currently in full bloom! You can leisurely stroll up the mountain to get a better view of the flowers. Or, if you're not up to walking the incline, you can drive or take the shuttle van (at a cost). Once you reach the top of the hill, you'll find a children's play area. Sometimes, there are food trucks parked where you can get a bite to eat. There are some tables and a grassy area to eat as well. The play area is great! It has a roller slide, a mini-zip line, and a jungle gym. It's big, too, so children won't be fighting over who gets to go next. And, you'll be able to see the big Godzilla statue. It may not be the same size as in the movies, but it's by no means small. There's a sign which warns against climbing up it. But, you can climb through it if you like! For a free park, there's a lot to do and see, even if you miss the peak blooms.
