Cozy music venue close to the artists
This isn't an exclusive club - it's easy enough to book a table plus dinner and drinks (all seats are reserved) on the Blue Note's website. And it's an amazing space with a cozy, softly lit interior tables and box seats arranged around the stage. The place is big but not that big. You and the performers get to connect as the space is so intimate. One evening, my friend and I arrived without reservation, and there were just a few seats left in front of the stage. I highly recommend you reserve to avoid disappointment. We got to hear the amazing American blues guitarist Robert Cray and chat briefly with him. For musicians, I recommend browsing the website's schedule for jam sessions. Some are held during the day before performances.

Great intimate live music venue!
If you're after a good spot for some live music - particularly for a special occasion - then the Blue Note in Tokyo is definitely a spot to consider. Located a short walk from the Omotesando Station in the Minamiaoyama area, this small venue hosts many big names in the jazz/blues/R&B genres. When my husband and I attended, we saw Peabo Bryson perform (yes, the "A whole new world" Peabo Bryson!) and it was an incredible experience. The fact that it's quite a small venue means that you really get to appreciate the artist or band performing - and the artists really connect with the audience. So much so, that Peabo Bryson actually came around and shook everyone's hand in the crowd the night we were there. As well as the performances, you can purchase food and drinks to enjoy while you soak up the tunes.
