Protection from calamity, holy water, and greenery

I recommend approaching Kemigawa Shrine from Kemigawa Station on the Keisei-Chiba line for the long flight of stairs right in front of the station. You ascend into a forested hilltop precinct. The shrine, over 1200 years old, was established during a plague and implored three gods, the Kemigawa Daimyojin, for relief. The shrine is shaded by trees, some natural monuments of Chiba Prefecture, and has a number of water features. The water is cold and clear, and you can fill up bottles to take home. Each month, goshuin stamps are issued with seasonal motifs and waka poetry.
