    Modern Temple

The "predecessor" temple Zenpukuji became Hongwanji, but since 1933 when a fire destroyed the building, this temple is commonly known as "modern temple." Since the building is not built in the traditional style, it's quite different and reminiscent of western churches, maybe those held in rental facilities without so much old charm. The small details and decorations are still elaborate and make for a weirdly unique space. As long as an event isn't being held, it's free to enter and go up to the main hall (elevator accessable) to take photos. There are books and small gifts for sale, including gacha machines with badges. It's very close to Hankyu Hanakuma Station, so worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood.
