Because Christmas isn't an official holiday here, I often find myself looking for ways to make the tail end of the year feel more festive -- and sometimes that's done through seasonal eats and drinks. This new double chocolate strawberry frappe + chocolate macaron from McDonalds definitely helps bring on the Christmas cheer, and you can see that immediately from the cup design which is decorated with a wreath motif. The actual drink itself is beautifully presented, too, with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, strawberry sauce, and a chocolate macaron topping the vivid pink drink.

This is definitely a pricier drink than what I'm used to seeing at McDonalds, coming in at just over 600 yen including tax. It's still a bit cheaper than most Starbucks frappuccinos which push the 700 yen price point, but compared to McDonalds shakes this is about 3 times the price. In saying that it's a very well thought out and nicely detailed drink, so I can't be too mad about it. Overall, this is something that provides a sweet treat and a festive feel at the same time.
