Unique spooky decor

I've learned over my years here that living as an expat often means you have to adapt to different ways of celebrating your favorite holidays from back home. For instance, at Christmas you might be used to having a large tree and lots of sparkling lights, whereas here a smaller tree from somewhere like Daiso is much more the norm.

Same goes for celebrations like Halloween. I see photos on social media from my American expat friends who have since moved home going all out for the spooky season – they've got big yard decorations, porches filled with large carving pumpkins, and so forth.

Without a yard here and with limited space for decorating, I have to be strategic about purchases, but I still like having some things that commemorate special events. I saw these at my local farmer's market recently and thought they were perfect! Cute little succulents in themed containers for 400 yen each -- they had jack o' lanterns, Frankenstein heads, and skulls.

I like that they're succulents, since they're one of the few plants I can typically keep alive for longer than a few weeks!

Have you seen any fun Halloween decor that is small/minimalist in your local area?
