The description

This review is about the new Genji Pie Tirol chocolates, which are being sold at 7-11 stores across the country. Each individual piece is priced at 39 yen including tax.

The good

If you are a fan of the classic Genji pie snacks that have been around since the 1960s, then these new Tirol chocolates are a must try. They're being sold at 7-11 stores only, and for only 39 yen a piece I think they're decently priced. Like a lot of Tirol products, there's a fair bit going on with this in terms of textures, which I personally find fun. There's a layer of baked pie flavored chocolate, along with crushed Genji pie pieces and coarse sugar to give it that realistic taste. A fun one, and I would buy this again. My entire family approved of these!

The not so good

As I mentioned above, there's a bit going on with this product in terms of different textures, and whilst that was something I enjoyed, I know that not everyone is a fan of biting into chocolate and getting crunchy textures. For me and my family, though, we thought this was super fun -- as fans of the original Genji pie this was a nice collab that did a faithful job of recreating the popular product in a chocolate square form. Keep an eye out for it at your nearest 7-11 store if it sounds tasty to you. Happy eating, and enjoy!
