This set was one of my son's recent birthday presents, and I think it's a great option for anyone who is a fan of both Lego and Minecraft -- especially so with the Minecraft Movie to be released later this month. This set has smack bang on 500 pieces, and because of that it takes a little while to put together, in a good way -- it's compelling enough to capture interest and reasonably challenging for kids. It's recommended for those aged 8 and up, and I think that's a suitable estimate. My son loves this set (and all the animal-related ones) since it really does look like a cow/mushroom house.

This is just my own two cents, but I'm not the biggest fan of the Lego Minecraft set aesthetics, since they just have a very pixelated, almost unfinished look to them. Anyone who has played the game will know that it's how they're meant to look, but I think there are so many other animated shows/games that lend to Lego in a prettier way. In saying that, my son thinks the Minecraft range is the best thing since sliced bread, so I can't complain too much. If you're looking for a larger set that is still achievable for Minecraft-loving kids to build, this is a solid option.
