Average price of ehomaki exceeding 1000 yen this year

BigFamJapan put out a reminder recently that Setsubun falls on February 2nd for this year, and one of the things we do to celebrate is grab some ehomaki. Just about every supermarket and convenience store sells them in the leadup to the occasion, but the news isn't great for the budget.

Recent research about the price of ehomaki for the 2025 season saw an increase of over 10% since last year, with a big part of this due to the jump in the cost of rice. The average ehomaki cost was in excess of 1000 yen as well, with seafood ehomaki averaging a whopping 1944 yen.
