Osaka gains a spot, now ranked 9th on World's Most Liveable Cities list

There are a variety of factors that make a city "liveable" in the eyes of the World's Most Liveable Cities list, including stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure. In 2023, Osaka just made the top 10 (the only Japanese city to make that cut), but for 2024 they gained a spot, coming in at 9th place.

Not too far behind (but outside the top 10), Tokyo came in at 14th place for the 2024 list.

A few cities in my home country made the top 10 as well, including Melbourne (4th) and Sydney (7th). However, I don't really know how they still rank so highly, given that housing prices are absolutely absurd there — in Sydney, especially.

If you live in Osaka (or Tokyo), how do you rank your city's liveability in comparison to your home country? Are there standout factors that make it better or worse than your country of origin?
