A highlight of Osaka
Its no secret I am not a big fan of Osaka, but I do love the Umeda Sky Building. Although, the escalator ride is quite nerve wracking, and totally worth the thrill. The observation tower is free during the day, with the Osaka Amazing Pass, but you have to pay extra at night. However, it is totally worth paying to enter at night for the spectacular views.

A must when in Osaka
I visited here a couple of years back, in the evening once the sun had set. It was beautiful seeing the night time lights of Osaka - it would be fun to re-visit during the day, too, to get a different perspective. It's a very cool spot from an architectural standpoint too - if you like design then it's worth a visit for that alone. There's a gift shop there as well with a range of small souvenirs - my daughter picked out this little replica from a gachapon machine!

Spectacular architecture and view
I didn't expect much of this 1990s skyscraper, but I came around. The two towers bridged by a The Sky Garden Observatory and escalators spanning the space. The angles and shapes become intriguing when you go up to the top of the towers. The Osaka skyline at dusk is truly enchanting from there. In stark contrast to the modern skyscrapers and observatory is the underground arcade with a recreation of Showa Era Osaka streets. It's no rival to vibrant Dontonbori, but it's great to stroll through a recreation of a retro urban street.
